This is one of those stories that, at first glance, is shocking but when the full context is taken into account, it is still bad but a little less so. Joe Biden spoke to House Democrats in Baltimore on Wednesday. The speech was in true campaign style though he has not officially announced that he is running for re-election yet. His speech was full of slams against Republicans with the standard reference to “MAGA Republicans” thrown in for good measure.
Biden went after the same people he has been attacking since Republicans took back control of the House. He brought special attention to remarks made by Rep.Marjorie Taylor Greene when he said more from her would result in Republicans moving to the Democrat Party.
Biden dared House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California to reveal Republicans’ budget full of spending cuts, mocked GOP Sen. Rick Scott’s reversal on targeting Social Security and Medicare and knocked “MAGA Republicans” like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. an acolyte of former President Donald Trump who recently called for a “national divorce” between red states and blue states.
“A little bit more of Marjorie Taylor Greene and a few more and you’re going to have a lot of Republicans running our way,” Biden said of GOP voters in 2024. “Isn’t she amazing?”
House Democrats laughed and applauded.
Earlier this week, Rebecca Kiessling testified before a House committee on the escalating fentanyl crisis. Rebecca’s sons Caleb and Kyler died in 2020 when they took painkillers without realizing the pills were fentanyl. They were 18 and 20. MTG mentioned during the hearing that they might still be alive if ‘the government secured the border.’ Joe Biden brought that up as he trashed MTG.
At the conference last night, Biden was poking fun at Rep. Greene when he remarked about the boys’ deaths.
‘A little bit more Marjorie Taylor Greene and we’re going to have a lot of Republicans running our way. Isn’t she amazing? Ooft. She was very specific recently saying that a mom, a poor mother who lost two kids to fentanyl, that I killed her sons.
‘The interesting thing is the fentanyl they took came during the last administration, haha.’
It was the laugh at the end that was horrifying to Rebecca.

You can see that Joe Biden is so eager to blame the previous administration for everything that he inappropriately laughs as he does so. It comes off very callous, as though he is mocking the situation because he can blame Trump’s administration for conditions at the southern border.
Rebecca’s testimony was hard to watch. She was crying through most of it, the pain of losing two children at once to a drug overdose still fresh. It did happen in 2020 and Trump was president then, not Biden. MTG didn’t specifically say Biden killed her sons, as Biden said she did, but she did imply that the open border may have contributed to their death.
Biden’s laugh horrified Rebecca. She now demands an apology. Rightly so. It really doesn’t matter who was president when her sons died. They died. That experience was what Rebecca was testifying to in the hearing. Biden embellished MTG’s remarks to play the victim for political advantage during a highly political speech. “I killed her son.” You can hear the audience gasp when he says that. One audience member can be heard saying, “Oh my God.” That’s why he did it, for the effect.
Where’s President Empathy? Where’s President Unity? All we have is angry, defensive, Trump-deranged old Joe Biden. It’s going to be a very long campaign season, especially if Trump is the Republican nominee.

Rebecca doesn’t blame the president, per se. She does say the border needs to be closed and she blames China for manufacturing the drugs that are smuggled in through Mexico.
The media is rushing to prove that during the Trump administration, opioid deaths increased. It’s like clockwork. They have to run interference for Biden as he runs for another term. It’s the same press that enabled Biden to stay in his basement and campaign for his first term without regular press conferences or exposure to the press, other than the occasional trip to an ice cream shop where they asked which flavor he chose. Good times, good times.
