In case trying to keep up with the dizzying array of court proceedings involving former President Donald Trump has you feeling a bit frazzled, do not fret — you’re not alone.

The Manhattan criminal trial of the former president for allegedly falsifying business records regarding payments made to former Trump attorney Michael Cohen after Cohen made payments to Stormy Daniels in exchange for a non-disclosure agreement is now in its third week. The prosecution is on its sixth witness, attorney Keith Davidson, and the trial is proceeding apace — so much so that Judge Juan Merchan relented regarding Trump’s request to be absent on May 17 in order to attend his youngest son Barron’s high school graduation.
However, as you may recall, before the start of the trial, Trump’s legal team had appealed the court’s order denying his request to delay the trial to afford him the opportunity to appeal the trial court’s ruling regarding presidential immunity and denying the request for Judge Merchan to recuse himself from the case.

Trump’s Lawyers File Third Appellate Motion Ahead of ‘Hush Money’ Trial
After an appellate judge denied Trump’s request, Trump appealed to the full panel of the appellate court. On Tuesday, the full panel denied that application. The two-page order reflecting the appellate court ruling may be viewed below.
The question becomes whether Trump’s legal team will now appeal that ruling to the New York Court of Appeals (the highest court in New York – theirs is an unusual structure). From a practical standpoint, it may seem largely moot. However, it also may be something they feel necessary to preserve all possible appellate issues in the event of a conviction. We’ll soon see.
