Our very own Baghdad Bob, Karine Jean-Pierre has been claiming from the podium at the White House that border crossings are down 90% or more because of Biden’s outstanding policies. She made the claim Monday and doubled down yesterday on this ridiculous assertion. I’ve already written a couple of pieces on that bit of gaslighting.

The scale of the crisis is nearly impossible to grasp. Nearly 3 million illegal migrants crossed into the United States last year, and we are on pace to beat that level this year. By the end of Biden’s first term, the US will have added something in the range of 8 million illegal migrants into the country.

Nothing like this can happen without the powers that be wanting it to happen. They have gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure that the flow of people crossing the border is as great as possible, and until recently this was a phenomenon that impacted the Red states primarily.
Joe Biden says the border is “safe and orderly and humane.”
Kamala Harris says “we have a secure border.”
Alejandro Mayorkas says “the border is secure.”

Democrats are getting a taste of their own medicine and they don’t like it one bit. Lori Lightfoot and Mayor Eric Adams from New York have both been begging for the flow into their cities to stop, and that is after just a few tens of thousands have shown up on their doorsteps.

Think of the millions that the border states are dealing with. Millions. Every year.
It is impossible to see anything but malign motives in Biden’s push to keep the border open. What possible GOOD motives can there be for imposing this human suffering on both American citizens and the millions who are risking life and limb to come here?
Look at the conditions the migrants suffer to get here. Children are being trafficked with the actual assistance of the US government. The New York Times itself reported about this and the story flopped because nobody wants to admit it is happening.

Most of these migrants are not political refugees, whatever they claim. They just want a better life, and that is absolutely understandable. Who wouldn’t want to escape poverty and corruption?
Of course many of the people coming are predators as well. It’s not like the Biden Administration is trying to even weed the worst of the worst out of the mix, except by accident every now and then.

Just as you don’t open your doors to every homeless person you meet, inviting them in to live off your family, the United States cannot become the world’s welfare state.
There is one and only one reason why these people are desperate to get here: the politics of their home countries. They are, in the inelegant words of Donald Trump, sh!tholes. Corruption, socialism, and political violence are plaguing most countries south of the border, and until those problems get addressed we will have to do our best to maintain our own security.

Turning the United States into Latin America north is not a solution. Turning Latin America into something more like the US is the best choice, except we have no idea how to do that.
Latin America has the highest murder rates in the world, by a huge margin. These countries are broken.
The top 15 countries in murder rates are Latin American, and 18 of the top 20 are. Most people would assume Africa is the most violent continent, but no: it is the region starting in Mexico and ending at Brazil’s southern border. North and South America are the most violent, especially if you exclude the US and Canada.
It’s always been fascinating to me that the United States is lumped into the same category as Europe when considering murder rates; I often wonder to what extent our proximity to Latin America explains our higher violence rates.
Americans of European descent have a murder rate that mirrors that of the rest of the world. It is our minority population who both suffer from and commit high rates of violent crime. We can speculate why, but I suspect it is because most of our minorities live in a culture that mirrors Latin America instead of the rest of America.
For some reason, the Biden Administration is hell-bent on importing vast numbers of people from failed states. It can have no positive effect on social cohesion or the well-being of the country as a whole, which implies that the Biden Administration isn’t particularly interested in those things.
Democrats, in fact, have been at war with social cohesion. Dividing Americans by race, income, sexual proclivities, and even on protecting the family.
Illegal immigration is clearly part of a larger strategy to divide Americans. They believe, perhaps rightly, that a divided America is better for their political and financial prospects.
Make no mistake, though: those scenes at the border are part of a plan.
