“Offramp” is in the air in our nation’s capital. All from The Hill newspaper,

If the shutdown extends until Wednesday, which seems to be a near certainty, it will be the longest ever, as they score these things.

So, the “principle” behind the Democrats shutting down government for five weeks was to exploit whatever slight electoral advantage they could gain in this odd-year cycle.
And to think, sometimes I sit here and believe that I’m being too cynical. That is simply not possible.
