My first essay of the day focused on Karine Jean-Pierre’s book tour landing with a resounding thud.
When I wrote that last night, I didn’t expect that my second post of the day would be about “Circle Back Barbie,” Jen Psaki. I mean, who could have thought that anything Joe Biden-related would capture our attention this far into the year?

But here we are. Jean-Pierre is still trying to flak for Joe Biden and pretend he was sharp (or, perhaps, her own mental acuity is so low that Biden DID appear sharp to her?), and now Psaki is somehow suggesting that one of the most accomplished women in America is a pretend Stepford wife.
Jen Psaki suggests Usha Vance is a prisoner in her own marriage: “Are you okay? Please blink four times.” Psaki’s “analysis,” if you could call it that, is bizarre. There is absolutely nothing detectable in the Vances’ relationship to suggest that J.D. is anything but a loving husband, nor that Usha is trapped in any way. She is an accomplished lawyer who likely made more than her husband before moving into the Naval Observatory, and she remains a valued advisor as Vance travels the world.
Sure, she isn’t the accomplished doctor that Jill Biden was, and she isn’t nearly as qualified to be the Surgeon General as Jill, but she holds her own as a power lawyer. She clerked for three different judges, including the Chief Justice of the United States.

Whatever else you can say about Cambridge University and Yale Law School graduates, I’m pretty sure that “shrinking violet” is a description rarely applied to anybody who went to either place.
Democrats are looking ahead and see J.D. Vance as the likely nominee for president after Trump leaves the scene in 2028, and they are trying to revive the “weird” and “creepy” brand for him. Psaki is trying to add “abusive,” probably because Vance is an obvious Alpha Male, of whom the Democrats appear to have none aside from John Fetterman.
The Democrats have become testosterone-averse, even testosterone-hating. The message to AWFLs is that men are abusive unless they are feminized, and J.D. Vance is hardly feminine.

Usha breaks the Democrat narrative because she is the opposite of a Stepford wife, and of course, she undermines the entire “xenophobic” claim they like to make about illegal immigration critics like Vance. As the child of Indian immigrants and a Hindu, she breaks a lot of molds. J.D. clearly adores her, and the reverse is true as well. They have a young, attractive family, and J.D. is extremely articulate.

Psaki is right to be scared of him as a candidate. It’s impossible to predict the political conditions for 2028, but Vance will be a strong candidate. Slandering him makes sense from that perspective, although Psaki is not the best messenger for the job. As a known liar who covered up Biden’s decline, she has little credibility.
Still, AWFLs are looking for reasons to hate on J.D., and Psaki is throwing chum into the waters.
