WATCH: Puerto Rico’s New Governor Breaks Out the Trump Dance at Inaugural Ball

Jenniffer González-Colón, recently sworn in as Puerto Rico’s 190th governor, was seen doing the ‘Trump dance’ during her inaugural ball.

Ms. González-Colón, who previously served as Chair of the Puerto Rico Republican Party, was sworn into office on Thursday. Rep. Carlos Giménez uploaded a video of her and her husband, José Yovin Vargas, breaking out some dance moves at the next night’s celebration.

“Congratulations to my dear friend & colleague Governor Jenniffer González-Colón of #PuertoRico on her amazing inauguration!” Giménez captioned the clip. “We love her dance moves!”

You may recognize the dance the first couple of La Isla del Encanto were performing. It’s been sweeping the nation.

As you can see, the background references the 2025 Inaugural Committee. González-Colón was also seen wearing the same shimmering red dress in images posted from the ball on Friday by entrepreneur Soraya Sánchez.

Good to see the Trump dance craze has made it to the Caribbean island. The same island we were told would completely reject the President-elect because an edgy comedian made a joke about them.

The dance started with Trump’s presidential campaign in 2020. He began closing out rallies by busting a move to the Village People’s hit song, “YMCA.”

Even beyond the above effort, it’s clear González-Colón has some serious dance moves. At the inauguration itself, she and her husband were again seen dancing up a storm.

Imagine that. Jubilation on an island now being led by a Republican who backs President-elect Donald Trump. Guess that comedian didn’t quite have the cache they thought he would.

Her election, as RedState’s streiff pointed out in the hours following the election, was one of several results that signaled “a fundamental reordering of American politics.”

While a good time was clearly had at the inauguration, Governor González-Colón is already faced with a major issue, after Puerto Rico suffered a massive, nearly island-wide power outage on New Year’s Eve, placing their infrastructure issues in the spotlight.

González Colón has pledged to make stabilizing the U.S. territory’s crumbling power grid a priority.

“There are many challenges facing our island,” she said in her first public address after being sworn in. “That is precisely what moves me to address that first challenge with a sense of urgency.”

“I’m going to fulfill my promises to you,” González-Colón added. “I am not going to govern only for those who voted for me. I am going to be the governor of all Puerto Ricans.”

As a delegate in Congress, González-Colón praised Trump’s relief efforts after Hurricane Maria devastated the territory, countering claims by  Democrats that he had abandoned the people of Puerto Rico.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for all you have been doing for the island,” she said after insisting Trump had sent everything Puerto Rico needed.

Now, she’s the Governor and feels good enough about it to break out the Trump dance.
