Old and busted: Save Democracy! New hotness: Install Democratcy!
Either that or former Kamala Harris comms director Jamal Simmons wants to create the biggest participation trophy ever. On yesterday’s State of the Union, Simmons told the CNN panel that he wants Joe BIden to quit again — this time leaving the White House to Kamala Harris so that she can become America’s first female president.

Hilariously, Simmons claims this would be a victory for transparency:
THESE. PEOPLE. ARE. INSANE. Kamala Harris’s former communications director has suggested that Biden should step down within the next 30 days, allowing Harris to briefly assume the presidency as a symbolic gesture. pic.twitter.com/WSCBVi87x4

SIMMONS: Joe Biden’s been a phenomenal president. He’s lived up to so many of the promises he’s made. There’s one promise left that he could fulfill, being a transitional figure. He could resign the presidency in the next 30 days, make Kamala Harris the president of the United States. … It would absolve him from being able to — from having to oversee the January 6 transition, right, of her own defeat. And it would make sure that — it would dominate the news at a point where Democrats have to learn drama and transparency and doing things that the public want to see is a time — this is the moment for us to change the entire perspective of how Democrats operate.
Transparency? Democrats rigged their primaries to cover up Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. Once that got exposed, they forced Biden to withdraw to keep the cover-up in place and installed Harris without any democratic process whatsoever. Now Simmons suggests that Biden should resign to make Harris president not because of any Biden incapacity, but because Democrats could then stuff a Harris presidency into the faces of voters that just firmly rejected it. They would then also force the country to undergo two presidential transitions in two months, for no better reason than to hand Harris a participation trophy.

Oh, and it would also screw with Donald Trump’s branding, Simmons insists, which clearly represents a key national interest in the eyes of some Democrats:
SIMMONS: And if he did it, it would — again, it would fulfill his promise, his last promise. It would give Kamala Harris the chance to be the 47th president of the United States of America. It would disrupt all of Donald Trump’s paraphernalia, right? He would have to rebrand everything.
Much serious! Many wisdom!
On one hand, this would be very on-brand for Harris. Her entire career has had to be been handed to her. She only faced two tough elections in her life, and this was the second, Her 2010 run for Attorney General nearly flopped too, only getting 46.1% of the vote in a state where her fellow Democrats were winning statewide offices by double digits. Harris flopped so badly in 2019’s pre-primary that she never even made it to Iowa, despite being a favorite that cycle. Biden picked her after declaring that he would choose a black woman as running mate, and she turned into a liability almost as soon as she took office.
Of course, this idea is absurd. The first female American president* would forever carry that asterisk. It would also trigger a constitutional crisis, because either Democrats would have to get both chambers of Congress to approve a new VP ASAP, or Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson would become president in case Harris became incapacitated. The chicanery of this bald-faced DEI move would stick to Democrats for a generation, and Harris would go down in history as a figure of ridicule.

Not to mention that Biden doesn’t seem too inclined to hand anything more to Harris. Her team has spent the past week slagging Biden and blaming him for the loss, and his team has been just as busily pointing back. Does anyone really think that the Bidens will shorten their time in the White House by a single hour, just to make Kamala feel better about her incompetence?
This is just another example of the unserious nature of Democrats and their disconnection from the electorate. If voters cared about whether we had a female president this cycle, they would have elected one. Democrats just refuse to listen.
