DeSantis prepares to send illegal aliens to sanctuary cities

Governor Ron DeSantis is going to do it again. He is going to bus or fly illegal aliens to sanctuary cities. Last September he arranged for two planes to take migrants from blue San Antonio to blue Martha’s Vineyard in the very blue state of Massachusetts. It was the perfect way to expose liberal hypocrisy and sanctuary cities.

There were only 50 illegal migrants on those two planes but to hear the residents of Martha’s Vineyard talk, you would think it was 500 or 5,000. All of a sudden the island didn’t have any place to house them. Funny, Martha’s Vineyard is a very popular, very upscale resort island with the capacity to house thousands of visitors every year, yet during the off-season month of September when there were plenty of vacancies, there just wasn’t room for the illegal migrants on the island.

So, what happened? Well, the migrants were given bowls of cold cereal and hugs and sent on their merry way to a military facility on Cape Cod. The Republican governor of Massachusetts deployed troops to escort them via bus to the military facility where they were held until other arrangements could be made. You can’t make this stuff up. Then-Governor Charlie Baker, a liberal Republican, said that Massachusetts was not a sanctuary state.

The upper-class islanders lost their minds. It was as though they had never seen a brown-skinned person outside of those working in their homes. The whining and the anger aimed toward Governor DeSantis were quite a sight to see. Their display of self-importance should have embarrassed them but they didn’t even notice. It’s who they are – the liberal ruling class accustomed to getting their way in life. Those inconvenient brown people didn’t stand a chance among them.

This time Florida has chosen several companies to carry out the next phase of DeSantis’ migrant relocation program. They will transport the illegal migrants to other cities as he did last year.

In a statement to CNN, Florida Division of Emergency Management spokeswoman Alecia Collins confirmed the state had “selected multiple vendors based on their capabilities to carry out the program.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, tried to brush it off as a political stunt. She threw in the Governor of Texas for good measure.

“We’re using the tools that we have in front of us to deal with this issue,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Monday, referring to the growing number of migrants crossing the US southern border. “Republican officials want to do something else –they want to campaign on this issue, they want to do political stunts, that’s what we’re seeing from the Governor of Texas.”

The number of buses headed north slowed in recent months as border crossings dropped, but is ramping back up again.

The number slowed a little due to seasonal slowdowns. It happens every year. However, there is no denying that the number of illegal migrants crossing into Texas and other border states is at all-time highs.

Governor DeSantis has a newly refreshed pile of money in his migrant transport program. The Florida legislature approved $22 million for the program.

DeSantis, too, has been coy about how he intends to use the $22 million that Florida’s legislature has set aside for his migrant transport program. At a recent news conference, DeSantis deflected when asked when the program would continue, though he hinted future action was on the horizon.

“We may be having an announcement soon about maybe a more coordinated effort to respond to what is a catastrophic failure of policy on behalf of the federal government,” DeSantis said Friday.

Stay tuned. This will probably get interesting.
