Report: John Fetterman’s Senate Return Timeline Is Revealed as Questions Continue to Swirl

Back in February, Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was hospitalized twice, with the first time being after he reportedly felt “lightheaded” while at a Senate Democrat retreat. During that hospital stay, he was said to have been monitored for a “seizure.”

His second hospital stay began a week later, after Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed Army Medical Center to get treated for clinical depression.

Fetterman, who suffered a debilitating stroke in May 2022 just before the primary and whose campaign was basically run afterward by his woke wife Gisele while he mostly stayed in the background, remains hospitalized some five weeks later.

He has, as it was noted by NRO’s Jim Geraghty, “missed 53 of the last 64 roll-call votes” since he’s been in the hospital.

But according to Democrat sources who are supposedly in the know, the freshman Senator is on track to return to the Senate in mid-April:

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is set to return to the Senate the week of April 17, two Democratic sources told The Hill.

A source close to Fetterman confirmed he will return once the Senate comes back from its upcoming two-week recess. The Pennsylvania progressive has been absent from the Senate since mid-February after checking himself into Walter Reed Medical Military Hospital with clinical depression.

His Senate colleague Bob Casey told “The Hill” that after meeting with Fetterman Tuesday that he found it “remarkable how good he looked, how good he sounded. My sense is he’ll be in better shape than he was even before his stroke. He’s really, really in good shape.”

Casey’s comments echoed those of Fetterman’s physician, who two weeks ago claimed that Fetterman will be “as good or better than his best days post-stroke,” once he is fully recovered.

What we’re being told, however, is completely inconsistent with the “proof of life” photos we got in early March, which showed an alarmingly slimmed-down Fetterman, in what were staged photos in a purple room at the hospital where he was pretending to work.

Further, even the Democrat apologists at the Philly Inquirer recently wrote that a “five-week hospital stay is considered somewhat long for inpatient depression care,” which calls into question if he’s being treated for medical issues other than depression.

As my RedState colleague Bonchie has also pointed out, telling people that Fetterman will be even better than he was pre-stroke is rather insulting, based on what we know about the process of overcoming clinical depression:

You don’t just go to the hospital, sit around, pop some meds, and come out good as new a few weeks later. Rather, it’s often a life-long struggle of balancing medication and one’s personal life in order to mitigate the effects. This idea that Fetterman is going to get a new drug cocktail and suddenly be “cured” is farcical. That’s not how depression works.

Further, the circumstance which triggered Fetterman’s worsening depression was his working in Washington, DC. How is he going to return to his life and not suffer another relapse if he changes absolutely nothing about it?

That’s a legitimate question that was frowned upon during his campaign (to the point that reporters were trying to cancel other reporters after uncomfortable questions were asked) and even more so now. But it’s one that Pennsylvanians most of all deserve the answer to, whether it comes from Fetterman or his co-Senator wife Gisele… when she’s not running off with the kids to her favorite vacation spots and likening herself to rape victims, that is.
