Loudoun County Superintendent indicted

Former Loudoun County Public Schools superintendent Scott Ziegler was indicted on three misdemeanor charges, and the Public Information Officer of the schools is charged with felony perjury.

Yowza!

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares had empaneled a special grand jury to look into the goings-on in Louden County–you know, where a young student was raped in a girl’s bathroom by a transgender student wearing a skirt–and they came back with the indictment.

A special grand jury in Loudoun County has indicted former Loudoun County Public Schools superintendent Scott Ziegler on three misdemeanor charges, a week after issuing a scathing report detailing the school district’s misdeeds in responding to a sexual assault.

The office of Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, who had impaneled the grand jury, announced Monday that a Loudoun county judge had ordered three misdemeanor indictments against Ziegler to be unsealed. Loudoun County Public Schools Public Information Officer Wayde Byard was also charged with felony perjury.

Ziegler was charged with one count of misdemeanor false publication, one count of misdemeanor prohibited conduct, and one count of misdemeanor penalizing an employee for a court appearance. The charges carry possible jail time of up to one year. Byard’s perjury charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

You may recall that the Loudoun County School Board raised hell when the father of the raped student went to the school board to vent his frustration, eventually leading the National School Boards Association to treat parents as terroriss. The FBI treated dissenting parents as potential terrorists attacking school boards. It was a true profile in courage for all concerned.

It was all a lie, of course. The Establishment never misses an opportunity to suppress the plebs when we are acting up.

Well it turned out that the School Board, and Ziegler in particular, was engaged in a coverup that led to the rape of yet another student. Their dedication to pushing transgender ideology led to not one, but two rapes of students.

Ziegler, who had served as superintendent for Loudoun County Public Schools since June 2021 after a brief stint as interim superintendent, faced widespread criticism for his response to a May 2021 sexual assault that occurred in the girl’s bathroom at Stone Bridge High School. The perpetrator of the assault was transferred to Broad Run High School, where he committed another assault in October 2021. Ziegler was abruptly fired after the special grand jury released a report last week that accused LCPS administrators of “fail[ing] at every juncture” when responding to the assaults.

The special grand jury was impaneled by Miyares at the behest of Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), who had vowed to investigate the school district while campaigning ahead of the November 2021 election.

In the report, the grand jury blasted Ziegler for stating at a June 22, 2021, school board meeting that, to his knowledge, there had not been any sexual assaults in school bathrooms. The grand jury said it agreed with multiple witnesses who testified that Ziegler lied at the meeting, including one who said the superintendent’s comment was a “bald-faced lie.”

The public schools have been captured by the Left, and most school boards are now toadies for the teachers’ unions. When was the last time you spoke with a voter who knew anything about candidates for school boards? Almost nobody does, except the unions who are highly motivated to get candidates friendly to them into office.

Three misdemeanors may not seem like much, because frankly it isn’t. But any level of accountability would be a welcome change from business-as-usual.

Youngkin’s success in bringing some level of accountability to Virginia is a stark reminder of how important it is to elected smart, competent leaders who will follow through on their promises.

You can only win battles like this when you win elections. Valiantly going down with the ship leaves you just wet and dead. A good candidate is a lifeboat for your cause. Youngkin, Kemp, and DeSantis prove that by focusing on competent governing you get the ideological space to win some big battles in the culture war.
