Taylor Lorenz Hearts China Communist Party’s Authoritarian COVID-19 Lockdowns

Media activist Taylor Lorenz beclowned herself once again when she posted a tweet supporting China’s authoritarian, COVID-19 lockdown policies. But given the Washington Post contributor’s past behavior, it might not be much of a surprise that she would defend this type of government action.

On Saturday, the Washington Post tweeted an article about China’s skyrocketing number of COVID-19 cases. The author noted that only a small number of Chinese citizens were vaccinated against the virus.

“A coronavirus outbreak on the verge of being China’s biggest of the pandemic has exposed a critical flaw in Beijing’s ‘zero Covid’ strategy: a vast population without natural immunity,” the article read.

Lorenz retweeted the report in an attempt to refute it. “There is no lasting ‘natural immunity’ to COVID. You can get covid over and over and over again bc there are so many endlessly evolving strains and antibodies wane. Also, choosing not to kill off millions of vulnerable people (as the US is doing) isn’t a ‘critical flaw,’” she wrote.

That’s right, folks. Lorenz thinks China locking people in their homes as part of the Chinese Communist Party’s “zero-COVID” approach, without vaccinations or other measures, is superior to how America and other countries are handling the issue. If it were up to her, the U.S. would still be living under lockdowns and other draconian measures used ostensibly to curb the spread of the coronavirus. While other countries are learning to live with the existence of the virus, she would rather have us hide indoors for the next few years.

Naturally, other Twitter users slammed Lorenz’s asinine tweet, noting that she is spreading misinformation and supporting human rights abuses.

The Daily Mail reported on “President Xi Jinping’s signature zero-COVID policy”:

China is battling a surge in infections that has prompted lockdowns and other restrictions in cities across the country as Beijing adheres to a zero-COVID policy even as much of the world tries to coexist with the coronavirus.

China defends President Xi Jinping’s signature zero-COVID policy as life-saving and necessary to prevent overwhelming the healthcare system.

Officials have vowed to continue with it despite the growing public pushback and its mounting toll on the world’s second-biggest economy.

Lorenz’s defense of China’s authoritarianism makes sense, considering her past controversies. Earlier in 2022, she punished Chaya Raichik, who operates the Libs of TikTok Twitter account, by doxing her, exposing her to threats and potential violence.

It was clear her motivation for publicizing her name was the fact that Libs of TikTok routinely brings to light the progressive efforts to sexualize children and to promote transgender ideology among students in K-12 schools. It also puts the ridiculous nature of far-leftist ideas on display for the world to see.

The idea that a media activist would use threats such as these against someone for disagreeing with her politics is authoritarian to its core. It wasn’t enough for Lorenz and her ilk to repudiate Raichik’s arguments; they sought to destroy her.
