If Ron DeSantis decides to run for president in 2024, he has the support of Elon Musk. It is very early in the 2024 presidential cycle (too early!) for candidates to announce they are running and so far, the only official candidate is Donald Trump. Even Joe Biden is waiting until the first of next year to announce his decision, though he has repeatedly said he “intends” to run. He’s running.
Joe Biden thinks he is the only person who can beat Donald Trump. At least that is the excuse he gives when he talks about running for re-election at the age of 80. He’ll be 82 years old in 2024 and that’s just nuts. Maybe some 82-year-old people are able to handle the job of leader of the free world, but I’m skeptical that even the most alert and mentally sharp-as-a-tack senior citizen is truly up to the job. Even for young and healthy presidents, it’s the most stressful job in the world.
Compare Trump and Biden, for a contrast of two senior citizens almost the same age. No one is questioning Trump’s mental or physical ability to be president. No one is calling him feeble or commenting on his stiff gait or noticing when he turns to shake the hand of someone who is not there. Biden, on the other hand, is in a constant state of being dazed and confused. You see it in his eyes. He looks like a deer caught in the headlights. It’s not said to be cruel, it’s just the reality. He’s 80 years old. Donald Trump is four years younger than Biden. He’s 76. There’s no guarantee he’ll be as he is now in two years. These two men are just too old to be running for president in 2024.
Elon Musk is speaking out about Ron DeSantis. Musk is a recent convert to being a Republican voter. He said he is looking for someone who is “sensible and centrist.”
“My preference for the 2024 presidency is someone sensible and centrist. I had hoped that would the case for the Biden administration, but have been disappointed so far,” Musk said on Twitter.
“Yes,” he replied in a tweet when asked if he would support DeSantis in 2024.
Just in case anyone had forgotten that Musk was a big ole Democrat until recently, he reminded everyone.
“As a reminder, I was a significant supporter of the Obama-Biden presidency and (reluctantly) voted for Biden over Trump,” the Twitter owner said.
Live and learn, Elon.
For a little context, Musk wasn’t just randomly putting it out there that he’ll support DeSantis. As far as I can tell, he was responding to a tweet about Trump not tweeting though his account has been reinstated. Musk explained that he’s fine with Trump not tweeting but it’s a matter of freedom of speech.
I’m fine with Trump not tweeting. The important thing is that Twitter correct a grave mistake in banning his account, despite no violation of the law or terms of service.
Deplatforming a sitting President undermined public trust in Twitter for half of America.

Included in a thread, another Twitter user asks if Musk would support DeSantis. He replied, “Yes.”
Would you support Ron DeSantis in 2024, Elon?

There you have it.
Musk said back in June that he was thinking of supporting DeSantis if he ran for president. He said that DeSantis can beat Biden. You may remember that DeSantis was asked about having Musk’s support and he delivered a clever line. “I welcome support from African-Americans, what can I say.”
Elon Musk asked voters to vote for Republicans in Congressional races to counter Democrats. As I mentioned, he is a new Republican voter. He announced the first vote he cast for a Republican was for Mayra Flores, who won a special election in South Texas. Her district had been under Democrat control for over 100 years. Her husband is a Border Patrol agent. Unfortunately, she did not win a full term on November 8. Her Democrat opponent won the race. One step forward, two steps back.
